There’s a secret game hidden in your Facebook Messenger
We’ve all heard of Facebook chess,
here’s how to play CHESS on the chat app
If you get tired of mindless conversations with your Facebook friends you can challenge them to a game of chess
Facebook has revealed the existence of a full chess game inside its Messenger app.
The secret game can be accessed by typing a specific code in the middle of any conversation.
If you want to challenge a friend, simply type “@fbchess play” into a chat to bring up the chess board. Whichever person starts the game will be designated White and can make the first move.
Actually playing the game could be a bit tricky, though, unless you’re familiar with standard chess commands.
The horizontal axis has letters to represent the columns while the vertical has numbers. Each piece can be moved by typing in which one you want to move and to which square.
In honour of the March Madness basketball tournament, Facebook has hidden another minigame inside its Messenger app.
but this time, if you send a friend a basketball emoji and tap on it, it’ll start a little basketball game.
It’s fairly straightforward — just flick on the basketball and try to get it in the hoop. After 10 successful dunks in a row, the hoop will start moving, making things a bit more difficult.
If you successfully get the ball into the basket, you’ll be rewarded with a celebratory emoji.
You’ll need the latest version of Messenger for it to work, so head to Android or iOS app store to get updated.
The final game of March Madness will be played on 4 April, and the minigame could disappear after that — so if you want to play, you’ll have to hurry up.
